CHERI MAEHL AWARDED FELLOW OF THE ASSOCIATION

Fellow of the Association is awarded to individuals for their professional achievement. Cheri Maehl, speech-language pathologist, was awarded Fellow of the Association for her many contributions to ISHA and to the speech and hearing professionals in Iowa. During CheriÕs many years of membership, she has been an officer on the board, serving as Vice-President of Public Relations and Liaison and editor of The Lingua. As a speech-language pathologist, she has been an advocate for children and a knowledgeable mentor and teacher for colleagues, particularly in the area of phonological processing. Cheri has worked tirelessly as a promoter of the profession, providing ideas, support and leadership in the area of public relations. ISHA appreciates CheriÕs career-long service and her contributions to our profession. Congratulations, Cheri, on receiving Fellow of the Association! Fellows of the Association

Fellowship, an award recognizing a professional or scientific achievement, may be given to a member on approval of two-thirds of the committee members. The status of Fellow shall be retained by the individual to whom it is awarded as long as the person remains a member in good standing of the Association.

Fellowship may be bestowed for a significant single contribution or for a series of contributions. These achievements may consist of any of the following areas:

  • innovative teaching techniques or innovative curriculum development;
  • development of new diagnostic or therapeutic test materials or curriculum;
  • development of outstanding or innovative clinical techniques or programs;
  • outstanding administrative abilities;
  • development of new devices that assist in the human communication process;
  • outstanding research findings that have the potential of shaping the future of the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology;
  • or service to ISHA including service on committees, the Executive Board, or in other significant capacities.

The award shall be based upon outstanding achievements in the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology within the past two years. The nominee shall be a regular member in good standing of ISHA. Nomination requires sponsorship of an ISHA member.
