CHERI MAEHL AWARDED FELLOW OF THE ASSOCIATION

Fellow of the Association is awarded to individuals for their professional achievement. Cheri Maehl, speech-language pathologist, was awarded Fellow of the Association for her many contributions to ISHA and to the speech and hearing professionals in Iowa. During CheriÕs many years of membership, she has been an officer on the board, serving as Vice-President of Public Relations and Liaison and editor of The Lingua. As a speech-language pathologist, she has been an advocate for children and a knowledgeable mentor and teacher for colleagues, particularly in the area of phonological processing. Cheri has worked tirelessly as a promoter of the profession, providing ideas, support and leadership in the area of public relations. ISHA appreciates CheriÕs career-long service and her contributions to our profession. Congratulations, Cheri, on receiving Fellow of the Association! Awards Presented By ASHA

Frank R. Kleffner Clinical Career Award

This award is presented in recognition of exemplary contributions to clinical science and practice in communication science and disorders over a period of no less than twenty-years. The award is an object of art with a recognition plaque. Nominations are due to ASHA by April. Contact ASHA for selection criteria and nominations procedures.

Rolland Van Hattum Award for Contributions in the Schools

This award is presented in recognition of exemplary commitment and contribution to service delivery in the school setting. The award is a plaque and $1000 to the recipient and $500 to the school system. Nominations are due to ASHA by May. Contact ASHA for selection criteria and nomination procedures.

Louis M. DiCarlo Award for Recent Clinical Achievement

Only a state association can nominate an individual to represent that state. This award is for advancement of knowledge in clinical practice as evidenced by significant recent accomplishment within the past six years in speech-language pathology and/or audiology. This award is a plaque and $1500 to further their work. Nominations are due in April to ASHA. Contact the ISHA Secretary for nomination procedures by January 10, so the Board can consider the nomination at the January board meeting.
