ISHA AWARDS

The Iowa Speech-Language-Hearing Association has a rich history of recognizing the accomplishments of our members, leaders, and associates in our profession.   

For 2021, the ISHA Nominating and Honors Committee would like to request nominations for consideration for the Honors of the Association, Fellowship of the Association, and Outstanding Service Award. Please review the criteria and deadlines as noted below and direct all questions to 
secretary@isha.org.



Honors of the Association


This award is the highest honor that the association can bestow on a member.

It recognizes an individual who has made distinguished contributions to the profession of speech-language pathology and audiology. Significant contributions may include innovative clinical practice, insightful and rigorous research, creative administration, effective legislative activity, outstanding teaching, dedication to the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology, or other distinguished lifetime professional activities. 


Honors may be bestowed for a significant single contribution or for a series of contributions.

The award shall be based upon outstanding achievements in the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology within the past two years.


Qualifying Criteria

The nominee shall be a regular member in good standing of ISHA. 


Any member may nominate another for the Honors award.


"Honors”may be given to a member upon recommendation of the Nominations Committee and approval by three-fourths of the board.

Nomination Process

The deadline for submitting a nomination will be June 15 so that the Nominations and Membership Committee may consider the suggested nominees and make recommendations to the board at the summer Board of Directors' meeting. Any current member may nominate another for this award by emailing a letter to secretary@isha.org with information establishing the merit for granting this honor.   

The individual who receives this award shall receive recognition at the following annual fall business meeting, so that the membership of the association can participate in the granting of this honor.

Fellowship of the Association


This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of speech, language, and hearing.

 

Outstanding contributions may be in any of the following areas: clinical service in speech-language pathology and audiology, clinical education and academic teaching in speech-language pathology and audiology, research and publications, administrative services in the area of speech-language pathology and audiology, and service to ISHA. Contributions to ISHA may include services as officer, committee chair, vice president, ex-officio board member, committee member, or resource person.


Qualifying Criteria

The nominee shall be a regular member in good standing who has been in their profession at least 10 years.  Nomination requires sponsorship of an ISHA member. 

The Fellowship of the Association award may be presented to any individual upon recommendation of the Nominations Committee and approval by three-fourths of the board.

Any current member may nominate another for this award to recognize the significant and extensive contributions they have made. Nominations should be emailed to secretary@isha.org.

ISHA Outstanding Service Award


This award is presented to ISHA members or non-members who have offered outstanding service on behalf of or for ISHA or individuals in the community with speech, language, or hearing needs.

The deadline for submitting a nomination will be June 15 so that the Nominations and Membership Committee may consider the suggested nominees and make recommendations to the board at the summer Board of Directors' meeting. Any current member may nominate another for this award to recognize the significant and extensive contributions they have made. Nominations should be emailed to secretary@isha.org.

The individual who receives this award shall receive recognition at the following annual fall meeting, so that the membership of the association can participate in the granting of this award. 


**In the event the Nominations and Membership Committee is not active, the secretary can bring forward a nomination for the Executive Board to discuss at its summer meeting.
